Ruth Elaine Draney

d. December 16, 2014

Ruth Elaine Fluckiger Draney, 84, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father from natural causes at her home in Pocatello, on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Ruth Elaine was born on December 30, 1929 to Wilford Ulrich and Clella Cook Fluckiger in Afton, Wyoming. She was their third child, and first daughter. She started school in Grover, attending all of her school years with her older brother, Dean. They graduated from Star Valley High School together in 1947. She attended the college in Laramie, Wyoming, the fall right after high school. Ruth Elaine married her eternal love, Imri Welker Draney, on June 4, 1948, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Their marriage was blessed by four children Joy Eileen, Jody Kim, Marlow Richard and Heather Marie. Ruth and Imri lived in Tyghee, Idaho, the Twin Falls area, eventually making their permanent home in Pocatello, Idaho. Ruth worked for many years at Cottage Health in Pocatello. She enjoyed her Friday half-days and her full work day on Saturdays. She worked there diligently every week, right up through the last weekend before her passing. Ruth Elaine was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a great love for the Gospel and temple work. Her faithfulness was an example to all who knew her. She served in many callings over the years. Her most recent callings, for many years, were that of ward chorister and choir director. Ruth Elaine loved spending time with her family. She was always happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved. She was an avid doll collector, she loved to travel, and her hobbies included quilting, puzzles and reading. Her quilts were handcrafted masterpieces, and treasured by those who have them. She was most recently working to ensure that each of her grandchildren ends up with one of her handcrafted treasures. She also enjoyed reading, which is a love she passed down to several children and grandchildren. She spent many hours working at puzzles, both alone, and also with the help of grandchildren. Several of her grandchildren loved spending hours over puzzles with " Gram " , chatting and learning from her while working on them together. Ruth Elaine was an incredible example of patience, love and kindness to her family and all who knew her. Her loving ways will be greatly missed. Ruth Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her two older brothers, Lynn and Dean, her husband, Imri, and her daughter, Joy. She is survived by her sons, Jody (Wendy) and Marlow (Lori), and her daughter, Heather (Tim) Underwood, twenty grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Wanda (Grant) Hulet, Marva Lue (Gilbert, deceased) Greene, Jay DeOrr (Sandra), Duane (Carol), Eva (Robert, deceased) Capron, Mary Ella (Dick) Taggart, Penny (DeLoy) Leavitt, Donna (Jim) Colbert, Julie (Jerry) Glenn, Johnnie and JoLinda (Robert) Holm.
