Russell Gary Murdock, 83, passed away February 8, 2017 from complications of a fall. He was born February 25, 1933 in Driggs, Idaho to Russell Curtis and Bertha Barker Murdock. After graduating from Teton High School in 1951, he served in the U.S. Army playing drums in the military band while stationed in Germany; this was one of the highlights of his life. He married Joy Moore in 1957, they were later divorced. They had 4 children: Kurt (Pam-deceased), Idaho Falls, Brian, Pocatello, Camille, Anchorage, Alaska and Bob (Hela), Ucon. He married Marjorie (Mickie) Morris in 1973. He loved her children as his own. Grant Swallow (Sharon-deceased), Aurora, Oregon, Mike Swallow, Aberdeen, Margie Coulter, Pocatello, Becki Lete (Daniel), Inkom. He has 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Gary worked for U S West Telephone Company then had the opportunity to teach computer programming at Idaho State Technical College. He later worked as a computer programmer for Garrett Freight lines in Pocatello and then a programmer for Idaho National Engineering Lab in Idaho Falls until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. He was an excellent bowler in the bowling leagues in Pocatello. He enjoyed teaching bowling lessons to kids. Gary and Mickie had fun bowling in several tournaments across the country. They were avid fans of all sports on TV. They loved to camp, fish, and go boating. He played the guitar and loved to sing, he had a beautiful voice. Gary had an infectious smile and always had a new joke to tell. His fun loving personality will be missed by everyone who was blessed to be part of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 1 sister; and 2 daughters-in-law. He is survived by his sister, Veloe Brasier of Ucon, Idaho. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 11 am at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID, with a viewing for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204.
