Rudolph Clarence Menta, 78, passed away at a Pocatello hospital on March 10, 2017 of an extended illness. Rudolph was born to Clarence and Cecelia Osborne Menta in Fort Hall, Idaho on October 13, 1938. Rudy had attended school in Fort Hall, Butte Montana and Yuma, Arizona. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956-1959. He married Barbara Adams and to this union two children were born; son, Rudy Menta, Comfort, TX, and daughter, Cindy Menta, Blackfoot, Idaho. On September 27, 1963, he married the love of his life Alene Auck in Pocatello, ID; they have been married 53 years. Together they had raised three children, Marlis (Ronnie) Marsh, Fort Hall, Tom E. Menta (deceased), and Oma Menta (deceased). Rudy had a very active life working hard and providing for his family. In 1960 he worked for the BIA fencing crew on the Fort Hall Reservation. Rudy was proud that he was one of the first Sho-Ban firefighters, he was employed with the Jr. Simplot's Gay Mine for 18 years after leaving the Gay Mine, and he joined the local union #370, working a number of jobs throughout the state. He loved to keep busy around the house and loved to travel from state to state. He enjoyed going Salmon fishing with his grandson, Jon, traveling with him going to different Pow-Wows throughout the United States selling his hides. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; father, Clarence Menta, Yuma, AZ; step-father, Harry "HiBoy" LaVatta; son, Tom E. Menta; daughter, Oma Menta; and granddaughters, Cortney Rae Menta, and Kristin Menta; sister, Alethea Marsh; and brother, Max Lery, Yuma, AZ. He is survived by his wife of 53 years; son, Rudy Menta, Comfort, TX; Cindi Menta, Blackfoot, ID, Marlis (Ronnie) Marsh, Fort Hall, ID; sisters, Saundra (Kennth) Todd, Fort Hall, ID, Theresa (Arnold) Appeney, Ross Fort Creek; brother, Craig Menta, Yuma, AZ. Rudy was blessed with many grandchildren, Jennifer Gordan, Shanon Owen, Mesa, AZ, Lindsey Wright, Meridian, ID, Sunnserrae Dixey, Portland Oregon, Cody Breshears, Pocatello, ID, Jon Thomas, Ryder, Blaze Menta, Fort Hall, ID; great-granddaughters, Madline Marie, Mattie and Jonny, Fort Hall, ID. Rudolph will be taken to the family home on S. Bannock Rd., E. Agency Extension on Monday, March 13 at 11 am until Tuesday, March 14 at 4 pm when he will be brought back for services from 6-8:00 P.M. back at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. He will then be taken back to the family home again Wed at 9:30 A.M. until the Burial, with Military Honors, at Ross Fork Cemetery at 2 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
