Ruby Hansen, 88, passed away, December 19, 2023.
Ruby was born October 26, 1935 in Gooding, Idaho to Joseph Farnworth and Henrietta Walker Farnworth. She was one of ten children. Ruby attended school until her junior year. She then obtained her GED in 1974. She also participated in cake decorating classes.
In 1953 she married Billy Wilkens, they later divorced in 1963. She then married John G. Hansen in 1964. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Ruby was an artist and loved dancing. She loved singing and shared her talent for singing anywhere and everywhere. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, and decorating cakes. She was an avid bowler, together with her husband, John they were a part of Bowler Singles and Duals from 1968-1995 and won many awards.
Ruby was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ruby was very involved with her family reunions every year and loved the time she got to spend with her family. One of her greatest joys was getting to spend time with her grandchildren. They loved going camping, fishing, and visiting relatives together.
The family wishes to thank the very special hospice from in South Jordan, UT for their tender care of Ruby. They also want to extend a special thank you to Ruby’s grandson, Ryan and granddaughter-in-law, Shaely for making the video.
To Shantell Winn, thank you for the past six years of love and caring for your grandmother and your mother and father when we needed you. The rest that you gave us on Tuesday was much needed and it would have been much harder on us without your love and understanding to the very end.
Ruby is survived by her daughters; Billie (Alan) Kuehn of South Jordan, UT, Lori Ann (Todd) Chandler of Chubbuck; son, John Thomas (Kelle) Hansen of Chubbuck; sisters, June Jackman of Pocatello and Rosie (Jerry) Cleverly of Idaho Falls; brothers, Carl (Kaye) Farnworth of SLC, UT and Bob (Betty) Farnworth of Bluffdale, UT; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews that she loves so much.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John G. Hansen; son, Danny Bill Hansen; and siblings, Lola Young, Sonny Farnworth, Gail Farnworth, Ruth Doudy, and Rhoda Port.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Rd, Chubbuck, ID. Family will meet with friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2024 at Wilks Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S 5th Ave, Pocatello, ID.
