Roylene Monson, 82, lifelong resident of Pocatello passed away November 10, 2021. She was born January 9, 1939 to LeRoy and Mayona Nelson. She was the youngest child of the family. Roylene was always very active playing outside with her friends and loved roller-skating. As a teenager she started her first job at Fred & Kelly’s Drive Inn. It was there that she met her future husband Darrel Shappart. They spent many wonderful years together and had four children.
Roylene later married Eldon “Don" Monson. They spent any free time camping, fishing, and ATV riding creating memories with family and friends enjoying the great outdoors.
Roylene was employed at Bannock Regional Medical Center for 38 years. She developed and maintained many personal friendships with everyone she worked with. It was these great friends who nicknamed her “Shortie”, due to her extreme height 5 foot “nothing”. She was proud to be a member of the 2nd floor and cherished everyday she was there. She will be missed by all.
Roylene is survived by: a daughter Christi Golen of Tumwater Washington; a son Bret & Krystal Shappart of Pocatello; a sister Donna Walton of Salt Lake City Utah; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Ernest Nelson, a daughter Shelly Kaye Shappart, a son Darrel Shappart Jr., and a grandson Bryan Shappart.
Per her request there will be a private family farewell. The Family suggests any contribution be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
