Royce Dawn Thyberg Gordon It is with great sadness that the family of Royce Dawn (Thyberg) Gordon announce her death on January 14, 2021. A vibrant, charismatic, and talented woman, Royce Thyberg Gordon was born in Pocatello, Idaho on July 10, 1938 to Maxine Ruth (Whitworth) and Roy Lamar Thyberg. On August 30, 1957, she married Edward Lynn Gordon with the marriage solemnized in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple, August 25, 1961. The couple went on to live in California, Utah, and Idaho. She is survived by her brother, Stanley Thyberg, and four sons, Curt Lynn Gordon (Brenda); Bret David Gordon (Kristy); Eric Sean Gordon (Kandis); Sean Ryan Gordon (Michelle); and her 12 grandchildren: Melissa Lynn (Gordon) Van Devender, Michelle Rene (Gordon) Nobles, Sierra Elyse (Gordon) Cox, Alec Jacob Gordon, Danielle Brooke Gordon, Taylor Logan Gordon, Trevor Lynn Gordon, Hailey Rose Gordon. Nathan Edward Gordon, Jaron Lane Gordon, Emily Suzanne Gordon, and Ethan Sean Gordon She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ed (April 21, 1996), siblings, Janice Fern and Karen Jane Thyberg, and grandson, Logan Gordon. A 1956 graduate of Pocatello High School, Royce excelled in the arts throughout her schooling, eventually attending the prestigious Sergei Bongart School of Arts in Santa Monica California and Rexburg, Idaho. She continued her studies with other nationally known artists, most notably Milford Zornes, Ovanes Berberian, and Don Ricks. The beauty of life and all its wondrous manifestations inspired her work. Her impressionist style combined vibrant colors and the effects of light, transforming her subjects into lively and imaginative interpretations. Along with an active national exhibition record, she received numerous awards throughout her career. Her work has been featured in the Salt Lake City Art Center, various collections including the Smithsonian, museums, books, and landmark buildings such as the Federal Courthouse and the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. She loved and treasured her twelve grandchildren, always taking them on exciting excursions and engaging them in artistic activities and adventures. Private services for Royce will be January 22, 2021. Public graveside services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 12:30 pm at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 South 5th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Monte Vista Care Center for the phenomenal care of their dear mother.
