Roy George Hindman, 88, of Hayden, Colorado and 10 year resident of Chubbuck, Idaho passed away Sunday, January 22 at his home. Roy was born to Elmer and Evangaline Hindman and spent his early years in Routt County, Colorado until he joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and flew with the 9th Air Force/668th Bomb Squadron in the European Theatre as a flight engineer. He earned numerous medals, citations and was honored for his dedication to service later retiring from the US Air Force after 27 years.
Roy always looked for opportunities to help others. He took great pride in teaching others, sharing his stories and will be remembered for his keen sense of humor. Roy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.
Roy is survived by his wife of 10 years Ellen Hindman and step children: Steve and Debbie Wilcox; Jim and Georgia Newton; Bob and Nancy Wilcox; and Bart and Jan Wilcox. He is also survived by 13 step grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Gilberte Hindman of Paris, France and together they had 3 children: Ronald Hindman (wife Donna) of Grand Junction, Colorado; Richard Hindman (wife Beth) of Conifer, Colorado; and Leslie Gresham (husband Walter) of Parker, Colorado. Along with his 3 children, he is also survived by four grandchildren: Alexandra, Zoe, Marcus and Noah and one great grandson George.
