Ronald Robert Britt

November 2, 1938 — December 31, 2021

Ronald Britt, 83, passed away on December 31, 2021 in Pocatello, Idaho.

Ron was born on November 2, 1938 to Orla Irene Carlisle and Robert Louis Britt in North Platte, Nebraska. He grew up in Nebraska and eventually graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic School. When he was 17, Ron moved to California to live with his aunt and uncle. During that period of time, he worked as a post office courier.

Ron would eventually be drafted into the Army. He spent two years serving as a medic in Germany. Following his military service, Ron moved back to Nebraska. He went to work on the railroad with his best friend Robert Doyle. The two of them worked in Sydney, Nebraska for one year. After that first year, there was no longer room for the two of them to continue working in Sydney, so the Ron and Bob were forced to relocate to Pocatello, Idaho where they continued working for the railroad. Their plan was to remain in Pocatello until a spot opened back up for them in Sydney, but they found the Idaho winters were much milder then Nebraska and decided to make their move permanent.

In 1972, Ron met and fell in love with Sherron Jolicoeur. The two of them became inseparable and would spend the rest of Ron’s life together. Ron stepped in and became a father figure to Sherron’s three children: Suzanne, Justin, and Chuck. In 1996, Ron and Sherron moved to the Fort Hall area which became their permanent home. Ron spent 50 years working for the railroad before his eventual retirement.

Ron had a deep love for horses. He raised quarter horses and even one thoroughbred and enjoyed racing them competitively. Among his other hobbies and interests were fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors.

Ron is survived by his wife Sherron, step daughter Suzanne Woods, step son Justin Hightower, grandson Jason Hurst, sister Marge Paxton, as well as nieces Stephanie, Danette and Nicole.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step son Chuck Jolicoeur, sister Judy Peterson, brother Kevin Britt, and his dear friend Bob Doyle.

A funeral service will be held in his honor at 11:00 a.m. on Monday January 10, 2022 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 West Chubbuck Road Chubbuck, Idaho. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello.
