Ron was raised in Oregon until the age of 11 when the passing of his father led them back to Pocatello, where he graduated from Pocatello High. Ron was the eldest of four boys when his mother remarried and he gained 2 more brothers and 2 sisters. In 1974 Ron married Margaret Williams and he adopted his first little girl, Jennifer. In 1978 his second daughter Frances was born. He divorced in 1981 and married Linda Thomsen. With this union he gained two more daughters, Misty and Tiffany Thomsen. They divorced in 2000.

Later Ron, Linda and the girls moved to Utah where he built plane parts. After a few years the family moved to Oregon where he worked at Western Pneumatics as a Drafter and at other various jobs. Later being a big part in the petitioning and legalization of medical marijuana. In 2004 he moved back to Pocatello to be near his family and that's where he stayed until his passing. However, Oregon was his true home.

Ron enjoyed waterskiing, camping with his brothers, gold mining, crabbing on the ocean with his girls, playing pool, visiting and singing karaoke at his brother's bowling alley. His favorite past time in Oregon, was the Saturday Market. The best being the day his Granddaughter Raschel was born on, she is his Saturday market baby. He loved beer and showed his kids at an early age how to pour the perfect beer. He was a talker and enjoyed making friends wherever he went.
