Ronald Lloyd Salmans

Ronald Lloyd Salmans Jr., 77, of Pocatello, passed away, August 19, 2022.

Ron was born in Dodge City, KS. He grew up on a farm in Cimarron, KS. He graduated from Cimarron High School in 1962, and attended Kansas State University and Dodge City Community College. 

He married Sharon Allen in 1966 (divorced 1991), and they had two children, Jeff and Steve. They moved from Cimarron to Dodge City in 1971, where he worked as an assistant manager at Brown’s Shoe Fit. His job took them to Ottumwa, Iowa in 1973, and then to McCook, Nebraska in 1976. In 1979, they moved to Pocatello, where he resided until his death. In 1992, he met GinaMarie Jilot, and resided with her until her death in 2015. 

Ron was a longtime salesman, working for Brown’s Shoe Fit, Vickers Western Store, Coldwell Banker, Premier Properties and Red Wing Shoe Store. He and his long time life partner, Gina, had several businesses, including the Rum Runner Lounge and an online business selling Japanese fabrics. 

In his spare time, Ron enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, with his friends and family.

Ron is survived by his son, Jeff (Erica) Salmans of Boise, ID and their children, Chloe, Claudia, Urban, and Xander Salmans all of Boise; son, Steve (Danika) Salmans of Laramie, WY and their children, Nathan (Mayzie) Salmans and great grandson, Atlas Salmans of Pensacola, FL, Abigal Salmans of Pensacola, FL, and Joseph Salmans of Laramie, WY; sisters, Carol Criss of Prairie Village, KS and Dolores Collins of Greenwich, CT.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Sr. and Ella Mae Salmans; long time life partner, GinaMarie Jilot; and sisters, Nadine Leuker and Norma McMillan.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
