Ronald Darrell Bedwell

Ronald Darrell Bedwell was born on December 23, 1935, to Dewey and Mary Bedwell in Galax, Virginia. He passed away peacefully on August 12, 2023, in Pocatello, Idaho.

Ron enlisted in the Air Force at the age of 17 and served for 20 years. During his service, he became an Aerospace Ground Equipment Repair Tech and also served a tour in Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work at Playtex as a mechanic and retired 20 years later. While working at Playtex, Ron met the love of his life, Hope McCarthy. They were married in October of 1994.

Upon retirement from Playtex, Ron and Hope headed west and settled in Pocatello, Idaho to enjoy their retirement. Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with Hope. They spent several summers being the “Camp Host” at the Timberline Golf Resort. Despite never having picked up a golf club, Ron enjoyed camping there. Ron and Hope also spent many afternoons at The Mason Jar where they made lifelong friends.

Ron’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the Veteran’s Home and the ICU staff at Portneuf Medical Center. Both went above and beyond to make Ron’s last days comfortable.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 2 sisters, and a daughter.

Ron is survived by his wife Hope Bedwell, 4 daughters, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life is to be held on August 20, 2023, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at The Mason Jar, 2585 Pole Line Road, Pocatello. A committal ceremony will then be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 25, 2023, at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery in Blackfoot. If planning to attend services at the cemetery, it is requested that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the service.
