Robert Wiscombe

September 18, 1969 — May 14, 2013

Clifford Robert Wiscombe II was born on September 18, 1969 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Clifford Robert Wiscombe I and Marilyn Del Wiscombe. The family moved to Nampa Valley, Idaho and in 1984 settled in Pocatello where their two sons Clifford Robert (Rob) and Matthew Phillip (Matt) were raised. Rob graduated in 1987 from Highland High school. Some of Rob's hobbies included bowling, baseball, and most of all cooking. Rob's first experience with cooking was provided from his great grandmother and it was during this time that his passion for cooking developed. Rob graduated in 1990 with an associate degree from Idaho State University (ISU) College of Technology (COT), in the Culinary Arts program. Shortly after graduation Rob moved to Alaska where he worked on a cruise line in Sitka. Rob earned his executive chef certification while working on the cruise line.

Rob then moved back to Pocatello where he and his high school sweetheart began a home with their first daughter Savannah Marie then three years old and Azia Lee , a new born. In 1992 Rob opened his first restaurant called the Continental Bistro then located on Jefferson Street. In 1993 Rob and Kelly gave birth to their third child Ryan Andrew.

Rob was then presented with the opportunity to join in a partnership with Dr. Bob to move his current restaurant to a new location in old town Pocatello. Rob was thrilled for this opportunity because he loved being located in old town Pocatello and pursuing his lifelong dream. During his sixteen years at the Continental Bistro Rob had the opportunity to train other individuals in the culinary arts profession as well as catering many local events. One of Rob's joys was meeting people within the community and he felt it was important to be involved in the local community. A few of the community organizations that Rob enjoyed volunteering his time to were the Civitan club, the local food bank, Pocatello chamber of commerce, the Portnuef greenway, and the Old Town Pocatello Association.

Rob was considered a friend to many and always had a smile that could light up any room. Rob was currently managing the Café Tuscano located on the East side of Pocatello. Rob was excited about his future as the opportunity to expand his culinary profession was growing extensively. During the last year Rob was able to travel to Hawaii with family and then Mexico where he was delighted to be a part of his daughter's wedding.

Rob is survived by his mother, Marilyn Wiscombe, his brother Matthew Wiscombe, his three children Azia Wiscombe Ludwig (Nicholas Ludwig), Ryan Wiscombe, Savannah Johnson (Joshua Johnson) and four grandchildren Hayden and Halle Johnson, and Anika and Payton Farnes.
