Robert W. Rausch, Born - August 2, 1943, Died - October 14, 2022
Robert W. (Bob) Rausch was born on August 2, 1943, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Alma Moses Rausch and Faye A. Rausch. In 1944, the family moved to St. Anthony, Idaho, and then in 1951 the family moved to Mackay, Idaho. Bob worked on the family farm and ranch while he grew up, and he graduated from Mackay High School in 1961. Bob enlisted in the Army after he graduated high school and he then returned home with a medical discharge in 1962 after an injury which occurred during his Army training.
In 1962, Bob went to work for the J.R. Simplot Company, but left them in 1963 to go to work for the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR). During the time Bob worked for the UPRR, he lived in Shoshone, Idaho, Arco, Idaho, and Idaho Falls, Idaho, before he moved back to Pocatello in 1965.
While living in Pocatello, Bob met Arlette Ganske and they fell in love. They were married February 19, 1966, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage lasted until Arlette’s death in 2018, for a total of 52 years. During their marriage, they had three children. Robert W. Rausch Jr. was born January 11, 1967, in American Falls. Angelyn Michelle Rausch Norgaard was born March 5, 1972, in Pocatello, and Kelly Shane Rausch was born October 25, 1973, in Pocatello.
Bob remained working for the UPRR until he retired in 2003. He continued to reside in Pocatello until his death.
Bob enjoyed gardening, tinkering with cars, building things, reading western books, watching western television shows, camping, fishing, and the outdoors. He also enjoyed model trains, model trucks, and his grandchildren.
Bob was a private and gentle person who loved his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
