Robert V. Doyle, 72, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 8, 2011.

He was born on October 12, 1938, in North Platte, Nebraska, the son of William J. Doyle and Emily M. McNeel. Growing up, he enjoyed all kinds of sports " especially football. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1956, and then received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Upon college graduation, he served in the U.S. Army and then joined the Union Pacific Railroad in Pocatello, Idaho. He worked in many positions at the railroad, retiring as the Terminal Superintendent in Pocatello.

He was married to Betty Jones in 1964. They were later divorced. He married Billie DeWaal in 1976. They were later divorced.

He was a volunteer for youth sports in Pocatello throughout his life. He coached in Bannock Boys Baseball for many years, and served as an assistant football coach at Pocatello High School.

He enjoyed downhill skiing, golfing, raising and racing horses, Nebraska Cornhuskers football, fishing and camping, home improvement projects, and many other activities.

He was a beloved father, a respected coach, and a good friend and neighbor.
He leaves behind a daughter, Kristi K. Bethke of Twin Falls, Idaho, two sons, Jeffrey T. Doyle of Logan, Utah and Scott M. Doyle of Sacramento, California, and five grandchildren (Gary Bethke, Jr., Jessica Bethke, Mikayla Doyle, Andrew Doyle, and Cameron Doyle). He also is survived by his brother, Bernard Doyle of San Antonio, Texas, and two sisters, Dorothy Fugate of North Platte, Nebraska, and Mary Fondrick of The Dalles, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Doyle, his sister, Trish Doyle, and his parents.
