Robert Terry Smith

Robert Terry Smith, 63, of Chubbuck, passed away on July 31, 2019.

Robert was born May 10, 1956 at Itazuke Air Force Base, Fukuoka, Japan, to Joseph and Emmogene Smith. The Smith family returned to the United States and settled in Texas. Robert joined the United States Navy in 1975 and served as a Machinist Mate on the USS California, the USS Eisenhower, and the USS Texas.

On March 20, 1979, he married Linda Latsch in Wisconsin. Together, they had three children: Anna-Lise, Heather, and Nicholas. The family traveled the United States, moving to duty stations in Norfolk, Virginia; San Diego, California; Bremerton, Washington, and the Naval Reactor Facility in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

After retiring from the Navy in 1995 at the rank of Senior Chief, Robert returned to school and earned an associate's degree from Idaho State University. After graduation, he worked as an instructor of computer science and network administration at ISU. He later moved on to work as a network administrator for Ireland Bank.

Robert enjoyed playing golf and collecting information about his family's history. Robert is survived by his wife, children, and four grandchildren.

A memorial will be held on August 31, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Rosewood Reception Center, 1499 Bannock Hwy, Pocatello, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Veterans Helping Veterans.
