Robert Lynn Otterstein

January 9, 1951 — February 5, 2022

Robert Lynn Otterstein passed away February 5, 2022 after being diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2019.


Robert was born the oldest of three children on January 9, 1951 in Brush, CO.


Robert graduated from Montezuma Cortez High school in 1969. While in high school he participated in speech and debate, forensics, chess club, and lettered in baseball.


Following high school, Robert joined the Airforce. Robert served in the Airforce four years and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1973.


After leaving the Airforce, Robert moved to Idaho. He studied Psychology at both CSI and Boise State University.


Robert worked in the retail industry throughout his career and was an excellent salesman. His career influenced his sharp sense of style.  


While living, Robert enjoyed classic rock, classic cars, Nascar, crossword puzzles, discussing current events, and tracking the weather.


Robert’s greatest pride and joy in life was his four children.


Robert is survived by his four children, Elizabeth Merzlock (Brad), R. Matthew Otterstein (Annie), Aaron Otterstein (Jade), Sarah Bartel (Ryan); his nine grandchildren: Ryker, Grant, Owen, Dean, Freya, Harper, Beau, and Otto; his father, Billy Otterstein (Doris); and his siblings: Michael Otterstein (Debbie), Vickie Waldorf.


Robert is preceded in death by his mother Darlene Rose Dunker.


Robert’s children would like to express their appreciation to the Portneuf Cancer Center, Heritage Home Health and Friends & Family.  


A Viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at Wilks funeral Home.
