Passed away on March 10, 2015 due to complication from a fall, with his loving son by his side.
Bob was born to Pearl and Laurence Schlehuber on September 8, 1925, the oldest of 4 children and big brother to Eldon, Lula May and Betty Lou.
Bob attend school in Pocatello, but before he graduated high school, he enlisted in the Navy. In 2000 Bob was bestowed with an honorary high school diploma from the Navy. Shortly after he returned from the Navy, Bob married Roma Nelson Jones on June 1, 1947. On June 1, 1963 they were sealed in the temple for time and all eternity. She was the love of his life and they remained happily married until her death in 2008.
Bob had a long and successful career with the Union Pacific Railroad. He had worked in various capacities, retiring in 1984 as the general foreman of the water service department. He established many long lasting friendships during that time.
Bob had a deep passion for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed many hunting trips with his dad, good friends Warren Seyfert and Clarence Hitchcock as well as son-in-law Bob. After his retirement he developed a new passion, golf. Bob and Roma enjoyed many golfing trips together as well as with many of their good friends.
Bob was very kind hearted and no one was more giving than him. If someone needed a hand or a hand up, he was always there. He was a good friend to all.
In Bob's earlier days, he was very active in the LDS church and was called to hold many different positions.
He is survived by his son Richard Schlehuber, daughter and son-in-law, Robbin and Bob Rash, grandson, Spencer (Jennifer) Rash, granddaughter Courtney (Jay Estrada) Norris, great-grandson Aiden Norris, sister Betty Lou (George) Probart, brother-in laws Dick Swindell, Raymond (Amy)Jones, sister- in- laws Arline Jones, Linda (Rick)Taylor and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Roma Nelson Schlehuber, his parents Pearl and Laurence Schlehuber, brother Eldon Schlehuber and sister Lula May Swindell.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the LDS Chapel at 1442 Gwen Drive. A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Rd. and one hour prior to services at the church.
