POCATELLO- Robert L. McGhee, 57, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010, at a local hospital, while surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born January 22, 1953 in Pocatello, Idaho. He grew up in Pocatello where he attended Lewis and Clark Elementary, Alameda Junior High, and Pocatello High School.
Robert went to work for the railroad shortly after graduating from high school. He began as a laborer, shortly thereafter became a carman and in 1973 he was promoted as an engineer. He continued to be an engineer throughout his career with the railroad. In 2004 he retired due to health problems.
Robert was married twice before marrying the love of his life in 1983, his caring wife Cathy Mower McGhee. They have been happily married for 28 ½ years.
Robert enjoyed many things which included hunting, fishing with his family and friends and bull riding. He also enjoyed football, softball, and cooking ribs for his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his wife; Cathy McGhee, daughters; Jodi Miller and Brandy (Brian) Moody of Pocatello, son; Nick McGhee of Pocatello, father and mother; Ed and Dorothy McGhee of Pocatello, sisters; Patty Colvin and Deb Hensley both of Pocatello, sister-in-laws; Roxanne (Scott) Thompson and Kim Mower, brother-in-law; Gayland Mower of Pocatello, six grandchildren, twelve nieces and nephews, and eleven great nieces and nephews.
Robert is preceded in death by his sister Christine, his son Ryan McGhee, grandparents, and aunts and uncles.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who helped with his journey in the last six years.
