Our Hero left this earthly life on August 21, 2017. Robert Edward "Bob" Blevin was born March 13, 1941, in Merrill, Oregon, to Vivien Earle and Gertrude Wellma Dyer Blevin. He was the middle of three boys. He spent his early years in Maple Creek, CA where they lived in a logging camp. He and his family lived in various places in Humboldt County, CA. Bob joined the Navy in 1958. He was stationed at the National Reactor Testing Station in 1964.That year he met Lynda Roberts in Pocatello, ID. They were married May 2, 1964 in Pocatello, Idaho. They were blessed with four children, Cynthia born 1966 in Hampton, VA, Deborah born 1968 in Vallejo, CA, Robert born 1978 and Colleen born 1980 both in Pocatello, ID. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1986. Bob made a career out of serving in the Navy. He spent the majority of his career working on Nuclear Submarines. He retired June 1980. He then went to work again at Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. He retired for the second time in 2003. He made lifelong friends every place he lived and worked. Bob valued education. He enrolled at Idaho State University in 1980. He graduated in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science. Bob belonged to the Sub Vets, and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was blessed to hold many callings, but his most rewarding calling was home teaching with K Harrison. He loved watching his children and grandchildren grow up. Bob always looked forward to the fall because High School Football would soon start, where you could find him sitting in section "G" in the Holt Arena. Bob Blevin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynda R. Blevin, and his four children and grandchildren. Cindy and Robert Parker and their kids, Dallan (Corin), Kelsey (Alvin) Gomez, Allie (Dexter) Gunter, Carly, and Clementine Heymans, Deb Eliasen and Joe Grenci and their kids, Katherine, Raechel, and Adam Eliasen, Robert and Heather Blevin and their kids, Easton, Cadence, and Tawsha, Colleen and Jake Maynard and their daughter, Kaylynn; three great-grandchildren and one who will be here in October. He is survived by his two brothers, Dennis (Barbara) Blevin and David (Susan) Blevin; his brother-in-law, Sam (Sheryl) Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, V. Earle (Shorty) Blevin and Gertrude (Gertie) Blevin; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, LaWanna and Clay Woods. A viewing will be on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11 am at the LDS Alameda 3 rd Ward Chapel, 954 E. Walnut St. Pocatello, ID 83201 (Corner of Walnut & Jefferson St.), with a viewing for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
