Robert David Armstrong was born on July 16, 1957, in Pocatello, Idaho to Ray and Oma Lee Armstrong. He was the third of four children in the Armstrong family. He spent his childhood in the Pocatello area, graduating from Pocatello High School in 1976.
After graduating, Rob spent time traveling and working across the Pacific Northwest before settling for some time in LaGrande, Oregon where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. In LaGrande, he met Mary Ninetta Davis, who he married in 1991. To this union, they had two sons.
Rob was first diagnosed with cancer in 2012, retiring from the railroad shortly after. Rob then moved to Inkom, Idaho.
Even in retirement, Rob kept busy. He volunteered for the Inkom Fire Department for nearly 10 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bargain shopping, and traveling to Cabo. He loved watching The Price is Right in the mornings and football in the evening. He had a small chicken farm to care for throughout the day that provided eggs to anyone who needed them, as long as they paid a fair price.
Rob passed away at his home, surrounded by family, on February 7, 2024, after a valiant fight against cancer.
Rob is survived by his children, Bryce Barker, Bryan Barker, Justin Armstrong, Nicole Armstrong, Taylor Wright, Zachary Armstrong, and Preston Armstrong; and siblings, Cindy (Stewart) Nelson, Randy (Paige) Armstrong, and Kim (Monte) Peterson.
Rob is preceded in death by his father, Ray Armstrong, and mother, Oma Lee Armstrong Green.
Rob’s service will be held at the Skyline LDS Church in Inkom, Idaho on Saturday, February 17, 2024. The service begins at 11am, with visitation beginning one hour prior. A graveside ceremony will follow directly after the service at the Inkom Cemetery.
For those unable to attend the service, a live-streaming option is provided under the Live Webcast link under the Events heading below or by visiting the Tribute Wall tab above.
