Bob McKee fiddle danced into the arms of his lifelong love after 12 years of separation on March 2, 2018 peacefully leaving his daughter Beckys home, surrounded by family. Born in Pocatello, Idaho to Anna Lovell and Robert Clayton McKee, Bob was 13 years old when his father died and he quit school to run his family farm. His trade mark was his big muscles. He found hired hands, built roads, dug basements, learned to plumb, was a super-fast sac sewer, saw many places, sat on a segregated bus in the south, got lost at sea, and witnessed a man get shot; all before age 21. He married Leona May Potter and moved her up to the farm in his hired hand shack with no inside toilet. They worked very hard and both shared a big dream for the farm and their family. They had 10 children: Clay (Janna), Becky, Bill (RaNae), Roy (Debbie), Jim (Annette), Margaret (Dave), Sally (Darald), Gary (Amber), Sarah, and Sam (Christa) all of which produced 63 grandchildren, who in turn blessed us with 91 great grandchildren, 5 pending. Bob joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He said, "Ive gone to and studied every church around these parts. I feel this is the most right church out there and teaches my children the best way to live." He served as scout leader, Elders quorum Pres., Superintendent of the Sunday school, ward missionary, was made a seventy by Howard W. Hunter, and served as a temple worker. Dad was a mentor to many and lived a life of service to the community and to all people. He worked hard, and loved deep. All people were friends he hadnt met yet. The senior center became a place of solace for a man without the love of his life. He met his dear love and friend June Hamilton at the center. She and her family became his home away from home. We tease June that she is our "nother" mother. She has been a blessing to dad and our family. He loved to visit, fish, travel, play pool & horseshoes, build roads (he changed the face of the mountains around Bear Lake & Pocatello), played banjo, sang, and he always dropped everything to be with his family. Dad has one surviving sister, Anabelle Orchard. He has always loved and watched over her. His banjo music, awesome smile, penetrating eyes, and heartfelt hugs will be missed by all. Hes now dancing, and singing, with is forever love Leona, his sisters Genevieve Miller, Betty Benedetti, his mom & dad, and his beloved son-in-law Chris May. (Who, by the way, would not be caught dancing a jig to a banjo anywhere!) Our thanks to Ben Snell, (grandson)and the Pharmacy Shop, to the dearest Dr. Mills in the world, Heritage Home Health Staff, i.e. Nurse Angela, best bather Jodie, and granddaughter Cassie Snell for helping our dad depart this earth with utmost dignity and peace. You are "The Angels Among Us!" Thanks to our fathers caregiver; our feisty, red-head, sister, Becky, youre awesome! We will heed dads advice; "Dont ever hold a grudge, it only hurts you, and love the hell out of your spouse, Im the dad, and thats in cement!" A viewing will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 6-8 pm at the LDS Church in Inkom, 973 N. Rapid Creek Rd., with funeral services on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11 am, also at the church. Burial will take place at the McKee Family Cemetery in Inkom, ID. In lieu of flowers, Bob requested donations for the Pocatello Senior Center.
