Robert Barry, Jr. passed away August 6, 2018 surrounded by the loving and caring staff at Monte Vista, and his family. He was born in Pocatello, ID to Robert Barry Sr. and Mary Evelyn Johnson. He graduated early from Pocatello High to join the Marine Corp. He was a WWII combat veteran and expert rifleman, who served in the Pacific Theatre (Okinawa). Upon return to Pocatello, he attended and graduated from ISU with a degree in Political Science. He married Geri Cox, and while later divorced, they remained the best of friends for life. They had two children, Robert R. Barry and Leslie Thorley (Warren). Bob was employed for 30 years at the INEL, and served as head of security as well as in the nuclear field. He is survived by best friend Geri Frost, his children, and his grandsons, Marine Sgt. Amir Sharaf (Camp Pendleton) and Corrections Officer Yusef Sharaf (SLC). He has a great-granddaughter-Daphne Evans Sharaf (CO). Also survived by a brother, William Barry (Norma) SLC and two nieces. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lt. Col. Mary E. Barry. Bob loved the peace and beauty of his secluded home, while watching and providing habitat for deer and all the birds and forest creatures that took shelter in his yard. Bob spent the past 2 and a half years being loved and cared for by the wonderful people at Monte Vista Care Center (too many to mention). The family cannot thank you enough. We would also like to give sincere thanks to all the staff from Encompass Hospice, for their love, concern, and tender care. Thank you Heather and David, especially, for getting us through this. As per Bobs wishes, there will be no memorial or service. His ashes will be scattered where he spent many enjoyable years goose hunting, on the river bottoms.
