Robert Barrett

January 9, 1954 — July 17, 2022

Bob Barrett was born January 9, 1954, to Cyril (Barry) and Corinne Barrett in Pocatello, Idaho. Bob grew up as the second of five kids.

There was always something going on when Bob was around. Friends falling in mud puddles with their Sunday best or having a pig roast in the back yard, Hawaiian style.

After 4 years in the Navy, he returned to Pocatello to go to work for the Union Pacific. He was the father of two children, Yumiko and Setsu. He always found projects to keep not only his own children happy, but he included his nieces and nephews in on the fun. He was adamant about the kids finishing their vegetables before they left the table (just ask Casey). That's something he picked up from our mother.

He was an avid tomato gardener whose garden looked like a tomato jungle with plants that sometimes reached 6 feet tall. He was an active outdoorsman, passionate about skiing, hiking, biking and the welfare of all animals domestic as well as wild. One of his favorite accomplishments was in August of 2000 when he took part in a 500-mile long-distance bike ride in Alaska, and along with 1500 other riders over $4 million was raised for AIDS research.

Susie Stricker Barrett was the love of his life, and he became an inspiration for his stepchildren. He will be missed by all his friends and family.

Bob is survived by his wife Susie, her two children, Keegan and Kyleigh, son Setsu, his sister Rosann (Mike) Mathews and brother Ron (Tanja) Barrett.

He was preceded in death by his parents Cyril (Barry) and Corrinne Barrett, sister Helen, brother Cyril (Larry), daughter Yumiko, and his best canine buddies Thomas (Tom Dog) and Vinnie.

His ashes will lovingly be placed in a New Orleans French Market Coffee & Chicory Can until they are made into special rocks that will be distributed into Redfish Lake.

In lieu of donations and flowers Bob would want you to "GO OUT AND VOTE".
