Robbin J Holmes

Robbin “Rob” J Holmes, 72, of Pocatello passed away July 19, 2021 at Portneuf Medical Center. He was born December 23, 1948 in Burley, Idaho to Harold Ray Holmes and Lillian Martin Holmes.

Rob attended school in Burley before enlisting in the Army in 1966. He was stationed in Germany where he learned communication and radio repair and worked as a lineman. After being honorably discharged at the end of his service, he worked for his dad’s road construction business and eventually earned an Associates degree through the College of Southern Idaho in electronics. Rob worked at AMI in Pocatello where he met his wife Mellonie and her daughter, Kimberly. Rob adopted Kimberly as one of his own and then together they had a son, Brent. Rob later worked at Bucyrus-Erie (BE) until the closure of the plant and then INL until his retirement.

He enjoyed camping and boating in his younger years, but his true love was hunting and fishing. He insisted he could still do those things even with his poor health the last few years. He was sarcastic and a jokester and his humor and wit will truly be missed.

Rob is survived by his daughter, Kim Ridgway of Pocatello, daughter, Chalena Leone of Burley (from a previous marriage); grandchildren, Katelyn Ridgway of Pocatello, Devan Holmes of Kuna ID, and Alyssa Franco; his brother, Roger Holmes (Vickie) of Meridian ID and Marilou (Danny) Miller of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mellonie; son, Brent; brother, Ray Holmes; and both parents.

The family would like to thank the Idaho State Veterans Home for their care and compassion of Rob during the last couple of years.

Graveside services will be held at the Falls View Cemetery on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11 am. Military Honors will be rendered. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in his name to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.
