Richard Harris Smith was born, November 11, 1931, to Morgan Jenkins Smith and Twila Ann Harris Smith, in Arimo, Idaho. He passed away peacefully on July 15, 2013 at home. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1949, and from ISU in 1963 with a B.S. in Physics and five boys. After he graduated, the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, after which he relocated every few years. He married Shirley Follick on December 29, 1951 and then was sealed in the LDS St. George, Utah temple on June 24, 1964. They were the loving parents of five sons, who were sealed to them for time and all eternity. Richard served faithfully in many different positions in his church, including Cubmaster, in the Elder's Quorum presidency and for 5 years as Bishop of the Lake Elsinore Ward in Lake Elsinore, California, where he and Shirley resided for 12 years before retiring in 1997, and moved home to Pocatello. He was always proud of being born and raised in Arimo and always tried to keep up with happenings and friends which he maintained throughout his life. His family moved to Pocatello when he was 12 years-old. Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley, and five sons: Steven Richard (Kristi), Kennewick, WA, Keith Kelly, Idaho falls, ID, Sidney Morgan (Brigette), Layton, UT, Michael Jay (Karen), Carlyle, IL and Timothy David (Jan), Chubbuck, Idaho, 16 grand-children and 17 great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, older brother Morgan B., a brother-in-law Terry Nelson, an infant grand-daughter, Lyndi, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Highland 3 rd Ward Chapel on the corner of Butte and Hiskey. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave, and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow services at the Arimo Cemetery.
