Richard Samuel "Sam" Doran age 71 passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Emeritus at Highland Hills in Pocatello, Idaho. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4th Ave. in Pocatello. Family will receive friends prior to the services from 11-12. Sam was born to Clifford Sr. and Elnora Doran June 10, 1942, in Pocatello Idaho. Sam attended school in Pocatello through the 7th grade, he moved to Rockwell, Iowa to help his aunt and uncle on the farm; Sam graduated from high school in Rockwell, IA in 1960. After graduation Sam worked construction for a few years then joined the Navy in 1962, serving on the USS Hancock until his honorary discharge in 1966. He enjoyed his Navy career and took great pride in serving his country. After returning home, Sam joined the Pocatello Fire Department in 1967 until retiring in 1993. He also worked for the Fort Hall Indian Reservation Fire Department and various other jobs. Sam rewrote all the Hazmat codes for the State of Idaho. The Fire Department was his life and blood; his fellow firemen were his brothers at heart. Sam married Raema Brubaker, Evans, Peterson in 1972 and with that union Raema brought her two children Doug and Michelle into the marriage. Sam enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, NASCAR, working outside and puttering on various projects and spending time with his grandchildren and faithful dog Kado. Proceeding Sam in death are his parents Clifford Sr. and Elnora, brother Clifford Jr., wife Raema, son Doug, sister Maureen, brother-in-law Carey "Hash" Hashimoto, sister-in-law Betty Thomas and mother-in-law Marie Olsen. Sam is survived by his daughter Michelle Tullberg and husband Gary of Lenox, IA, daughter in law Kathy Evans, daughter in law Bonnie Liston and husband Lyle of Pocatello; grandchildren Regan and Dawson Tullberg of Lenox, IA, Sharra Evans and husband Dayne Valgardson, Nick Evans and wife Priscilla, Adele and Chesie Hardy-Diven, great grandchildren Sylas and Madilyn Valgardson, London, Emma and Tannen Evans and baby girl to be all of Pocatello, brother Clarence Doran and wife Colleen of Blackfoot and sister Patricia Chesler of Pocatello along with loving nieces and nephew.
