Richard Ray Williams, age 66 of Pocatello, passed away from a short battle with cancer on August 18, 2012 at his home with his Wife and daughter by his side.
Richard was born March 14, 1946 in Pocatello to Jerry and Margaret Williams.
On a blind date he met Peggy Ann Warner of Aberdeen and they got married on May of 1965. They had two children Wendy and Jody. The marriage ended after 20 years but they still kept a friendship till the day he passed away. Richard met Deanna Kay Bowden while she was working at the bank. He wanted to thank her for her kindness and asked what he could do for her, she said off handedly “send me flowers”. They were married on September 24, 1994.
Richard served in the Idaho National Guard for 6 years and worked in the auto industry for most of his life until he retired at 62. He was so happy to be able to stay at home and putter around his yard all day, mowing the lawn with his “little red mule” and taking care of his flowers. Star Gazer lilies were his favorite. By night he would set up one of his many telescopes. Richard was very interested in astronomy and could find any galaxy he was looking for. He even built his own telescope from scratch and took great pride in showing it off. His other hobbies were fishing, playing the guitar and spending time on the CB radio. He also likes to dabble in photography and was very interested in the weather, always announcing when a “Donny brook” was on its way. He took a great photo of a tornado that passed through Pocatello. It is hanging at the National Weather Service.
We will miss you dad, husband, grandpa, brother and friend. We will miss your exaggerated stories and animated gestures. We will cherish them forever. We will miss your generous heart and your kind words to everyone.
Richard is survived by his wife Deanna Williams of Pocatello, his children: Wendy (Alan) Hoagland, Jody Williams. His brothers: Bruce (Bonnie) Williams, Donny (Sandy) Williams, his two granddaughters, Madison Hoagland and Brittnee Hartman.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Jerry Williams and Howard Williams and one sister, Linda England.
