Richard Mcelveen

Richard Eugene (Dick) McElveen, age 83, passed away November 19, 2021.

Richard (Dick) McElveen was born December 17, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia to Lorenzo Paul and Carrie Louise McElveen. He attended schools in Atlanta, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Shangri-La from 1955 to 1958.

He married Saundra Getty in 1968. He worked for Eddy Bakeries for 30 years and a Security Officer at ISU until he retired.

Dick loved to hunt and fish and made the best barbeque ribs this side of the Mississippi.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy, and three children: Tina (Doug) England, Phoenix, Arizona, Lisa (Dane) Mattoon, Henderson, Nevada and Rick (Melissa) McElveen, Pocatello, Idaho. Nine grandchildren: Franchesca Selto; Cole, Gunner and Payton Mattoon; Jenise, Alexis, Chase, Jessica and Easton McElveen.

The family would like to thank Alliance Home Health for taking such good care of him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will take place at a later date.
