Richard Grigora, 78, of Pocatello, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at his home. Richard Vincent A. Grigora was born December 10, 1932 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Nora Colaianni-Gross and Anthony (Tony) Grigora the youngest of 3 children. Richard attended school in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High School in 1951. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Korea. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge, he attended Idaho State College for a semester. He worked in the Pocatello area at various jobs. On March 19, 1959, he married Marva Jean Cox. They moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1961 where Richard worked for the City of Las Vegas. Their son, Michael was born in 1963. In 1970 the family moved back to Pocatello to be closer to other family members. In 1979 Richard and Marva were divorced but remained good friends until his death. In the mid 1980's, Richard moved to Alaska where he went to work for the Government at the Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. Upon retiring at the age of 62 he returned to Pocatello where he resided until his death. As a young fellow, Richard enjoyed hiking in the mountains around Pocatello. He'd hike up Buckskin, camp out for the night, then next day he would hike to Inkom, buy a newspaper and wonder home. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with a bow and arrow in the American Falls Reservoir. His hobby was taking pictures and he became very good at it. He is survived by his son, Michael A. Grigora, Pocatello, a grandson, Vincent A. Grigora, Fair Oaks, California, a sister, Dorothy (Glenn) Darnell of Boise a niece, Anne Huskinson, Salt Lake City, Utah, two nephews, Chris Huskinson, Rexburg, Idaho, Lawrence Hughes, Pocatello, Idaho, and several cousins in the Pocatello area and throughout the western states. He was preceded in death by his parents Nora and Anthony Grigora, and a sister, Gloria Shepherd. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at Colonial Funeral Home. Military honors will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
