Richard Douglas Salser, 64, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in Chubbuck, Idaho. Richard was born at St. Benedicts Hospital on February 6, 1954 in Jerome, Idaho to Ray Douglas & Susan Grace Salser.
Despite Richard's disabilities he was very good with numbers. Richard liked old country music, especially Patsy Cline. He enjoyed watching TV, Law and Order being one of his favorite shows. He liked Kentucky Fried Chicken, but enjoyed the coleslaw the most. His other likes were tacos, Jimmy John Sandwiches, and pizza. However, there were three things that were the center of Richard's world; cigarettes, coffee, and Coca-Cola. He lived for those three items.
Richard loved sitting outside of his home smoking, and watching the world around him. His neighbors enjoyed seeing him there as well. He got a kick out of them waving hello as they would walk or drive by. He was known for his sagging pants. Everyone was always reminding him to pull up his pants.
Richard had a very unique way of speaking. He spoke very softly with a gravelly voice. He observed what was going on around him more than he was given credit for, he would often catch people off guard commenting on some of the observations that he had made. Often these comments were extremely funny.
Richard will be remembered most for his smile. It was rare, but when you were able to get him to engage and smile…that smile brightened your soul!
A viewing for Richard will be held from 9 to 10 AM on Fri., Apr. 20th at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Rd with services following the viewing starting at 10 AM.
