Richard Lowell (Dick) Henderson, age 90, passed away at his home on February 19, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on March 5, 1931 in Broken Bow, NE to John Calvin (Pat) and Mabel Hetrick Henderson one of two children. He attended school in Callaway, NE and graduated with the class of 1948. After graduation he moved to Oregon working in grain fields before entering the United States Air Force on January 11, 1950, serving 2 years and 8 months.
On October 12, 1952, he married Margie Thompson and they had four children, Kay Joann, Ronald Keith, Karen Rae, and Kristy Louise. They later divorced. Dick was a truck driver for 38 years with Suburban Propane in Kemmerer, WY when he met his current wife Darlene (Stauffer) Rosen on the dance floor at Bobby Jo’s Five Mile Inn in Pocatello, ID where they were living at the time of his death. They were married on June 4, 1982, celebrating 39 years together. He was a State Patrolman and Deputy County Sheriff for several years and longstanding member of I.O.O.F grand Lodge of Nebraska. His hobbies included steelhead fishing, game hunting, dancing, Husker football, and Rockies baseball.
Survivors include: his wife Darlene, children Kay (Leroy) Lieb of Nebraska, Karen (Rick) Reiter of Nebraska, Kristy (Doyle) Buchmeier of Nebraska, Terry Rosen and Marie of Idaho, Vicki Rosen and Troy of Idaho, 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, one niece, two nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, sister-in-law, and son Keith. Memorials may be sent to the family for further designation.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 215 N. 18th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho. A viewing will also be held at the church, beginning one hour prior to the funeral services. Interment is to follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
