Rhonda Kathleen Mathews

POCATELLO " On February 27, 2010, the Heavens opened and received another angel, as Rhonda returned to the open arms of her grandparents and Heavenly Father as she concluded a lengthy battle with an extended illness.

Rhonda Kathleen Meyer was born August 5, 1955 in Palm Springs, California. At the age of seven, along with her brother and younger sister, she moved to Tremonton, Utah, where she was educated and baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Rhonda loved trips to Bear Lake for campouts and swimming and making shell necklaces from shells found on the lake shore. Campouts in Yellowstone National Park and in the local mountains also made fond memories for her.

Rhonda married Keith I. Mathews, February 23, 1973 in Elko, Nevada, and moved to Pocatello, Idaho where she remained until her death. Two sons were born to this union: Cory Don Mathews and Michael Eugene Mathews. Their family was sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 28, 1984.

Rhonda loved the association with her family, especially the “girly giggle parties”, fishing trips, camping trips to Red Lake, Bear Lake, and the Uinta Mountains, endless games of pinochle and yahtzee, and breakfasts with “Pappa Daddy's” pancakes. She had great memories of the special trip taken with sisters, sons, and mom to Disneyland.

Rhonda made beautiful pictures and crocheted items which she gifted to her loved ones.

Poor health drove her into seclusion and isolation-her solace being her devoted husband and her many dogs. She battled her demons with all her strength. And now she can rest, the battle is finished. Soar with the eagles, swim with the whales, you're finally free.

She took great pride in her grandchildren, showing pictures of them to all who visited.

Rhonda is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Keith I. Mathews of Pocatello, ID; sons, Cory Don (LaDawn) Mathews of Kemmerer, WY; Michael Eugene (Sherry) Mathews of Pocatello, ID; parents, Donald F. and Corin W. Meyer of Malad, ID; a brother, Randy R. (Arlene) Meyer of Albion, ID; sisters, Rita (David) Tea of Brigham City, UT; Julie (Gary) Lund of Malad, ID; Lacy Turley and fiancé, Joshua Tanner of Logan, UT; and her six adoring grandchildren, Cody, Charles, Cassandra, Isabelle, Shaylyn, and Alex.
