Rhea Swim

d. June 26, 2012

Rhea King Swim passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the age of 87 due to complications from her third brave battle with cancer. Rhea was born January 1, 1925 in American Falls, Idaho. She was the only daughter of Robert King and Josephine E. Johnson King. She went to American Falls High School where she graduated as salutatorian. She then moved on to Brigham Young University to further her education and in hopes of becoming a research scientist. However, after marrying her high school sweetheart, Sherm Swim, and starting a family she chose to forgo her dreams and devote her life to her family. She made her home in Arbon Valley where she continued to live until her death. She not only drove the school bus from Arbon Valley to American Falls for 49 years, but laid the foundation for her children to succeed by supporting the family ranch. As always, her family was her first priority. She enjoyed her crosswords and reading but also remained very active throughout her entire life. She loved the outdoors where she could get out and take a ride with her kids, take care of her yard, or relax with her pets. Her family will always remember her for her strength and kindness. She was the perfect mother and grandmother and will be missed greatly. Rhea is survived by her two sons Kirk (Linda) Swim of Arbon Valley and Rex (Willa) Swim of Firth, and her only daughter Joanna (Tom) Hugues of Arbon Valley, also her two granddaughters Sara Hugues, Adrienne Shymatta and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Shane Swim. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Bannock Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
