Raymond Wood

CHUBBUCK-Raymond Gene Wood, "Gene" to his family and Ray to his friends, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, August 30 2012. Ray was born March 23, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho, son of Raymond C and Mabel F. Wood. He was the second of six children, and grew up in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High School. Ray enjoyed fun cars, driving a 1956 Chevy, a 1966 Red Mustang, and a 1970's Nova SS. Ray worked several years at a hospital in Blackfoot, then moved to Billings Montana to work at a hospital there. He moved back to Pocatello in 1975, working at Bannock Memorial Hospital where he was affectionately called "Doc" because he wore scrubs during his shifts. After a medical condition that left him unable to work, Ray retired in 1997. Ray was preceded in death by his brothers Jack in 1956, and Donnie in 1960. His father passed away in 1974 and his mother in 1996. He is survived by three siblings, Frances (Boyd) Worley, Robert (Sue) Wood, and Gary (Trudy) Wood. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Special thanks go to his caregivers at Ridge Wind Assisted Living Center, his hospice care staff, and especially his sister Frances who was always there for him. Graveside Services for Ray will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mountain View Cemetery, location in cemetery will be 39 West. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. prior to the graveside service at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave.
