Ray Neal Sauer passed away at his residence due to cancer in Pocatello on November 20, 2023 at the age of 72. He was the oldest son of Neal and Mildred Sauer, born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on February 21, 1951. He was raised on a farm with his seven siblings originally in the Lewisville area and then in Osgood, Idaho. He was a graduate of Skyline High School class of 1969. He was sealed to Clarice Mendenhall on November 2, 1973 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They raised their 6 children on their farm in the Idaho Falls area and later Monteview. After retiring they moved to Pocatello, centralizing them to their children and grandchildren. He had a strong love for family and helping others. He enjoyed all aspects of farming, the building and remodeling of homes, and especially took pride in all his woodworking projects.
Ray is survived by his wife Clarice Sauer. Children Kristie (DeVon) Tomkinson, Raylene (Reuben) McLean, Tony (Shyla) Sauer, Wayne Sauer, Melissa (Hank) Carpenter, and Valerie Sauer, 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Siblings Enid Deming, Ellen Huggard, Peggy Danielson, Kim Sauer, David Sauer, and Janeal Capron. He was preceded in death by his parents Neal and Mildred Sauer, brother Lorin, grandchildren Payton Sauer and Aidan Tomkinson.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 6:30-8 pm at Colonial Chapel, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11 am at the LDS Cedar ward church, 550 W. Cedar St. Pocatello, Idaho with a viewing prior to the services starting at 9:30 am. Burial following at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho.
