Ray Roberts

Ray Roberts, 89, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Ray was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho. In 1948 he joined the Navy and was stationed in Oregon, where he met and married the love of his life, Frances Slemp. Ray and Fran were married for over 60 years. When he was discharged from the Navy, Ray and Fran moved back to Pocatello and raised their family. They had 5 children: Glenda (Dan), Wayne (Joann), Josie (Randy), Ronda (Jim), and Phillip (Ellen). They also had 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Ray worked in several different occupations throughout his life, mostly which was welding and manufacturing. Ray was all about his family. His hobbies were anything that involved his family including going to the drive-in, camping, picnics and BBQ's, taking "short" rides that could last days and include several states. Ray could build and fix anything, from scuffed knees and splinters to car engines. He was a jack-of-all-trades and was always willing to lend a helping hand anywhere he could. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Marie; 2 sisters; and 4 brothers. There will be an Honor Guard ceremony on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Veterans Memorial Building, 300 N. Johnson Ave, Pocatello, ID 83204.
