Irvin Ray Draper, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2017 in Salt Lake City, UT. Ray was born and raised in Salt Lake City, spending the first 36 years of his life there before moving to Pocatello, Idaho where he spent the next 29 years. After the passing of his wife, Angie, he returned to Salt Lake City to be closer to family. Ray was the 2nd youngest of 9 brothers and sisters. Shortly after finishing school, Ray joined the Navy where he served with pride before receiving an honorable discharge for injury in the line of duty.
Ray had survived his wife Angie, whom he was married to for 42 years. Together Ray and Angie raised seven sons, 2 of which Ray had survived. He is survived by 5 children along with 37 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ray was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending as much time as possible camping either in the woods or at lakes whenever he could. Ray also loved working with his hands and was an accomplished master mechanic as well as an avid woodworker.
Family will receive friends at a celebration of life that will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29th 2017 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road. Interment will follow services at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
