Ray Livingston Carter, 92, passed away on July 13, 2021 of complications from a stroke.
Ray was born on June 7, 1929, the second child of Vern Carter and Elizabeth Livingston Carter in Burley, Idaho. He attended schools in Burley and was involved in choir, track, drama, and student government at Burley High School. Ray graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. degree in Accounting and went on to be a CPA – his life’s chosen work.
After honorably serving in the Canada Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1949 – 1951, he married Marjorie Louise Barnes in the Idaho Falls Temple. They have six children.
Ray served in the army in the Korean War for two years and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.
For most of his career Ray worked at and co-owned Ken V. Carter & Co., being known for his accuracy, generosity, and work ethic. He worked up until his stroke two weeks ago. He also served faithfully in the church including being the Stake Clerk for several Stake Presidents, for many years.
Ray enjoyed fly fishing, pheasant hunting, serving his family, and working. He never sat for very long – always thinking of things that needed to be done. Ray loved his family unconditionally and was quick to act when anyone needed help. He was a great example of love for us, honesty, humility, love for the Lord, and love for our mother.
The family would like to thank those who cared for him at Portneuf Medical Center and Gateway Transitional Center.
Ray is survived by his wife, children Steven Carter (Pam) (American Fork, Utah), Linda Myrup (Alan) (Orem, Utah), Mark Carter (Allison) (Pocatello, Idaho), Susan Christensen (Milt) (Portland, Oregon), Gaylynn Spackman (Ross) (Sugar City, Idaho), sister Nadine Kekauoha (Laie, Hawaii), 23 grandchildren, and 52 great grandchildren.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ken V. Carter, and infant daughter, Virginia Carter.
