Randy Layne Hill Sr., 66, of Pocatello, ID. peacefully passed away on 06/01/2021 at 14:35 in his home. He was born to parents Inez and Reynold Hill, on 17 May 1955, in San Diego, California.
He graduated from Highland High School, Pocatello, ID. in 1972. He went on to study at the California Culinary Academy, in hopes of becoming a Certified Executive Chef. Randy worked as an Executive Chef for over 20 years, later retiring in 2009.
In his early life... Randy was a Navy Sailor, stationed at Coronado Naval station California and manned the U.S.S. Hollister. Later marrying his wife Kathy Ann. They had 3 children and moved to a small ranch in Montana. During that time, Randy led many restaurants around Helena and Townsend as both Head and Executive Chef. He created many menu items that can still be seen around the local restaurants today. Randy also enjoyed outdoor activities like camping and fishing. He loved to cook and taught both of his sons and daughter the way around the kitchen. He was always laughing and smiling. Later in life, after retirement, he opened up Sweet Basil's beading and spent most of his time at the local Pocatello Farmer's Market selling his necklaces and bracelets. Randy would also quietly work with support groups, volunteer, or donated to agencies like the United Support Group (USO), National Foundation of Disabled Vets, Boys and Girls Club, Guiding Eyes for the blind, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Saint Jude's Children Hospital.
Randy is survived by Kelly, daughter, married to Wes with their children Corissa Murray, AshLeigh Murray her spouse Kaiden Gillet, daughter Elizabeth, Liberty Weyburn, and Jon Weyburn. Randy Jr., son, and partner Jaime Valvoda, and his daughter Zerina. Robert, son, his wife BreAnn, and their children Caleb and Connor. Pattie Hill, step-mother, Theresa Stoddart, sister, married to Phil, Kathy Jo Kerns, sister, married to Darl, Reynold Jess, brother, married to Deanna. Along with his loyal companion Lucas Hill.
He was preceded in death by Reynold Hill, father, Kathy Ann, spouse, and Mary James, spouse.
