Randall P Harris

September 19, 1953 — November 4, 2021

Randall (Randy) P. Harris was born to Paul and Clara Harris on September 19, 1953. He had one brother, Rick Harris, and two sisters, Karen Brokens and Karla Bruce. Having lived his entire childhood in the same house in the Hidden Village subdivision in Pocatello, Idaho with his parents, Randy then spent the rest of his adult life here also in Pocatello, Idaho.

As a young teen he moved sprinkler pipes in the summers, then worked at Safeway while in high school. He graduated from Highland High School in 1971. In 1972 he married a girl from the neighborhood, Rosella "Rosie" Prindle (Bulmer). At the age of 18 he and his wife bought their first house shortly after getting married. He also got a new job working for JR Simplot Co. Two little girls, Jessica and Jennifer, were born into the family in the following years. In 1978 they moved into a brand new home and have lived there ever since. As the girls grew and got married, Randy became the grandparent of six wonderful grandchildren. Many days, nights, and weekends were spent with them. Randy loved to tell stories of his life that made them laugh. He is remembered as a grandpa that told lots of stories. When the grandkids grew up and married, he became a Great Grandpa to seven beautiful little ones.

Randy and Rosie spent summers camping, fishing, and vacationing with family and friends. They were able to go on several week long Goldwing motorcycle camping trips with family and friends. They went up to Canada and several other states. They also enjoyed going on cruises to various countries. They purchased land in Island Park and spent their summers together with loved ones, camping, 4-wheeling and enjoying the natural beauty of the outdoors. Eventually, with the help of family, Randy and Rosie built a cabin which all of their kids, grandkids and great grandkids stay at on a regular basis. Randy had the privilege of going to Alaska with his father and brother for a week to go deep sea fishing for salmon and halibut.

Over the years, Randy enjoyed helping with the Simplot Games at the Holt Arena. He would drive the students from their hotels to the games or was one of the guards to watch over all that crowds. He was even a bodyguard for the Simplot family one year. He also helped with many of the Simplot floats during various holiday parades and was involved with many Simplot activities and events. At age 62 he retired from Simplot in 2015. After retirement they were able to spend more time at their cabin and even started traveling south to a warmer climate to enjoy their winters with friends.

The summer of 2020 he caught Covid and was in the hospital for about two weeks. He recovered but was home only six weeks when he was diagnosed with cancer. The next several months were spent going through nine hours of chemotherapy every six weeks with several rounds of radiation. Although he fought valiantly he succumbed to the cancer with his wife and daughters by his side on November 4, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Paul and Clara Harris, his fathers-in-law, Buzz Bulmer and Lloyd Prindle, sister-in-law, Sherriel Covelli, nephews, Gregory Tolman and Shane Parker.

He is survived by his wife Rosella, daughters: Jessica (Howie) Smith and Jennifer (Kevin) Skinner. Grandchildren: Riley (Derek) Shoecraft, Stevin (Amanda) Skinner, Skyler (Brooke) Skinner, Ethan (Jasmine Orm) Smith, Jonathan (Ashlynne) Skinner, Jayden (Bailey) Vahsholtz. Great Grandchildren: Legend Smith, Delcan Orm, Mia Skinner, Aria Shoecraft, Finley Skinner, Chloe Shoecraft, Olive Skinner, Penny Skinner.

Randy will be remembered and loved by many.
