Ralph Nelson

POCATELLO - Ralph Verland Nelson, 84, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away at is home Monday, July 25, 2011. Ralph was born in Pocatello, Idaho, September 22, 1926 to Waldmar Ernest and Mary Ellen Stuart Nelson. Ralph and his twin brother Ron was the youngest of seven children. He married his childgood sweetheart and the love of his life, Patsy ruth Mingo, on November 25, 1944. Growing up, Ralph worked alongside his father, where he learned the skilled trade of carpentry. Ralph became a successful carpenter and built hundreds of homes in the Pocatello area. Ralph also served 2 years in the Navy during WWII. Ralph and Patsy were blessed with ten children. Terry Nielsen (Doug), Stewart Nelson (Cindy), Rose Mary Johnson (Robert), Ron Nelson (Betty), Bonnie Weaver (Richard) Patti Armstrong (Rick), JoAnn Briscoe (Terry), Craig Nelson, Vera Clark (Kendall), Jan Hill (Dennis). They have 42 grandchildren and 97 great-grandchildren. Ralph loved his family which has always been his pride and joy. He loved to ride horses, camp, fish, sleigh riding, motorbike rides, hunting, watering his grass and take winter trips to Yuma where he would often make gifts for his children. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, sibling, and three children, Craig, JoAnne and Terry. Ralph is also survived by his sister, Betty Paige. A special thanks to sister-in-law Louise Mingo and all the wonderful caregivers that have provided love and care for our parents. We love you. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Chubbuck LDS Stake Center on the corner of Stuart and James in Chubbuck. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011, at the Stake Center and also one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.Colonial-FuneralHome.com.
