Ralph Donald Murray, 91, of Pocatello, passed away peacefully at his home on March 5, 2022.
Ralph was born on November 17, 1930, in Argyle, Minnesota where his family farmed. During WWII at the age of 12, his family moved to Pocatello, Idaho.
Ralph served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After serving in the military, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. Other than Pocatello, Ralph has also lived in Twin Falls, Idaho, Mountain Home, Idaho, Nampa, Idaho, and Vallejo, California. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and was a lifelong Democrat.
Ralph enjoyed collecting old coins, antique cars, riding his motorcycles, and reading James Michener books. In his younger years, he enjoyed fly fishing, pheasant hunting, chess, camping, and exploring old ghost towns of the West.
Ralph was also known to be a kind and generous man, who would open his wallet for multiple community programs and charities.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Maryann Murray, and three brothers: Richard Murray, George Murray, Jr., and James Murray.
Ralph is survived by his two daughters: Deanna Abell and Catherine Millward; two sons: Jeffrey Murray and Michael Murray; as well as one brother, John Murray.
Ralph’s family is planning to hold a Celebration of Life in the future, and information will be updated here as it becomes available.
