Rachel Jeanette Kingston

Rachel J. Frandsen Kingston, 93, of Lava Hot Springs passed away peacefully on November 30, 2021.

Rachel was born on July 17, 1928 in Firth, Idaho. She is the daughter of Burke and Beecie Frandsen and was the fourth of twelve children. Rachel attended school in Firth and graduated the 8th grade. She later earned her GED.

On July 17, 1946 she married Merlin Kingston and they had eleven children: six girls and five boys. They later divorced in September of 1966.

Rachel was a mother and homemaker all of her life. After the children were raised, she worked in Lava as a hotel maid for several years until she retired. Rachel enjoyed playing the piano. It was evident at age three that she would be a musician and she played the piano for her church for fifty years. She also enjoyed playing and accompanying her children that played violins, viola, cello and chimes.

She had a green thumb at gardening, both vegetables and flowers. She also liked to feed the birds in her yard and sit in her swing on the front porch to watch them.

Rachel is survived by her daughter Martha (William) Roskelley, son Gene (Marilyn) Kingston, daughter Vilate Curran, daughter Vera Kingston, daughter Marea (Dennis) Betty, son Verlin (Lori) Kingston, daughter Rose (Tracy) Adams, sister Ruth Losee, brother Charles (Peggy) Frandsen, brother Paul (Inga) Frandsen, brother Andrew (Robin) Frandsen, 26 grandkids, 49 great grandkids, and 2 great-great grandkids.

She was preceded in death by Mary Kingston Savala, Charles Kingston, Barnum and Joseph (2 infant sons), her parents, one sister and six brothers, Cecil, Melvin, Rex, and Lothair Frandsen, and a great grandson Terrance Knight.
