Preston Hugh Morris

Preston passed away at his home on November 2, 2019 surrounded by his loving daughter and granddaughters. He was born February 23, 1926 in Maple Park, Missouri to Gladys and Preston P Morris.

Preston joined the Navy in 1943 at the age of 17 and was sent to Farragate, Idaho for boot camp. He was then stationed in Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Shipley Bay. He completed his service at the Navel Ordinance plant in Pocatello.

In 1944 he met and married the love of his life for 74 years, Wanda L. Palotta. In 1946 he welcomed his only child, Sheri.

Preston worked as a mechanic at Intermountain Chevrolet, Idaho Concrete and Bannock Paving were he retired after 42 years.

Preston enjoyed racing stock cars in Pocatello where he was one of the original founders of the track. He would also race in Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and St. Anthony. He loved NASCAR and went to Phoenix for several years to watch. He loved working in his yard, his cabin in Island Park and going fishing.

Preston is survived by his daughter Sheri Taylor of Pocatello, his two granddaughters Michelle Stotts (Gibby) and Tricia Jacks both of Pocatello, great-grandchilden, Asher Thomsen, Lacee Thomsen, Dakota Rowe and Cheyanna Jacks, great-great grandchilden, Addilee Rowe, Wyatt Rowe, Preston Jacks and Karson Jacks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, and a brother and a sister.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road. Family will receive friends prior to services beginning at 10:30 a.m.
