Hazel graduated from South Fremont High School in St. Anthony, Idaho. On September 27, 1953, she married Keith Garner and they made their home in Pocatello, Idaho.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Hazel was an independent, strong willed, hard working woman. She loved the outdoors and she loved doing yard work and being outside and still worked in her yard even through the last year of her life. She loved taking motorcycle rides with her husband Keith, traveling to see new places and especially loved spending time in the mountains. Hazel learned to play the piano and guitar with the help of Keith, who was a talented musician. They spent many hours singing and playing music together. He was the love of her life and after his passing in 1993 she had a great void in heart that has now been filled at her passing. She was a wonderful wife and mother, who cared deeply for her family. The reunion with her sweetheart and her daughter Teresa is a long awaited joyous one which brings great comfort to her surviving family.
Survivors include a daughter, Shelley Kay Jones, a son, Brian Keith Garner, a brother, Douglas Henninger, eleven grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Keith Garner, two sisters, Maxine Liebert and Marcia Carter, her daughter Teresa Ann Garner and granddaughter-in-law, Kimberly Dawn Walker Herrera.
Hazel's ashes will be interred at the Wilford Idaho Cemetery. A small celebration of life with family will be held at a future date.
