Phylis Arlene Cutler was born on May 17, 1950 in Rupert, Idaho to Lester and Florence Pearce. Phylis passed away peacefully in Pocatello, Idaho with the family at her side on June 9, 2019.
Phylis was born in Rupert and later moved to Pocatello graduating from Pocatello High School, where she met Gene Cutler and it was love at first sight. They were married on June 25, 1968 in Pocatello. They had 2 boys, Bryan Cutler and Shane Cutler, who were the light of their lives. They made many trips in a converted school bus that was an adventure on wheels covering the western half of the United States. Four wheeling on the sand dunes and trails, anywhere the notion took them. One of their best trips was when Gene and Phylis ventured to Germany to visit Bryan and his family, who live there.
After Gene retired from the Union Pacific Railroad, they bought and trained a miniature Sicilian Donkey and a Miniature Brahma Bull. The animals did rodeo and circus acts for audiences all over. They were featured on Animal Planet as well as on the internet, fairs and rodeos. They spent their winters in Bouse, Arizona where they did weekly shows for the fans and four wheeling. They never knew what a stranger was as everyone was just a new friend to them.
Phylis lost Gene in September of 2017 but remained strong and active with the help of her son Shane despite 2 strokes. Still spending shorter times in Arizona and around Eastern Idaho.
Phylis was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents, one brother, and one grandchild. Surviving relatives include her sons, Bryan (Gaby) Cutler of Dottenheim, Bayern, Germany and, Shane Cutler, Pocatello, Idaho. Seven grandchildren and many other chosen grandkids. One brother, Francis (Angela) Pearce, of Nampa. Two sisters, Claudia (Dieter) Aleman, of California, Mariela Taracene, of Guatemala.
The family wishes to thank Encompass Health Care for their care over the last few years and a special thanks to the nursing staff at Pocatello Regional Hospital ICU Unit.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 12:00 at the Inkom Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to follow at 359 Morgan Lane, Pocatello (off West Reservation Road) from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M.
