Peggy Joyce Franklin

June 21, 1933 — March 24, 2023

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.

I'm following the path God laid for me.

I took His hand when I heard the call.

I turned to Him and left it all.

I could not stay another day

To laugh, to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way.

I found that place at my close of day.

If my passing has left a void

then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.

Ah yes, these things, I too shall miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savored much -

great friends and times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;

don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your heart and share with me.

God so needed me.  He set me free.

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and friend, Peggy J. Franklin, passed away on March 24, 2023. She died of natural causes surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was born on June 21, 1933, in Dongola, Illinois, the daughter of Alice and Roy Ledbetter. She attended school in Illinois and later met and married the love of her life, Richard (Dick) J. Franklin on November 14, 1953, in Corinth, Mississippi. Peggy and Dick loved to go camping, traveling and took many trips to Jackpot, Nevada. She enjoyed playing slot machines and the lottery. She loved people and people loved her. She worked for many years at Kraft Foods, ISU and the Pocatello School District. Peggy had one daughter, Debbie Franklin (Lyon), and two other daughters lost in infancy.

Peggy was very proud of her daughter Debbie and all that she accomplished and has done for others throughout her life. She filled her mother’s heart with love, joy and pride and they were very close. Peggy treasured every moment spent with her daughter, her grandchildren and her great granddaughters. They were her greatest joy.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Debbie Lyon (Kenneth), her grandchildren Brandie Anderson (Robert) and Matthew Lyon (Katie), her great-grandchildren, Taryn and Madison Anderson and her brother Larry Ledbetter. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Franklin, two daughters, Patricia Diane and Marguerite Alice Franklin, her sister Eleanor Riggs, her brothers Bobby and Gary Ledbetter, her mother and father, Alice and Roy Ledbetter, and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy will be deeply missed and remembered dearly forever by her family and friends.
