Peato Peato Galo

Peato Peato Galo, lovingly known as Ben Galo, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at the age of 44, doing what he loved....building. Ben was born on August 5, 1975, in the village of Aleisa, Samoa to Meaalofa Peato Galo. He attended school in Samoa to the tenth grade. Ben left Samoa to live with his family in American Samoa where he later met his eternal sweetheart, Vaimaila Ofisa. They were sealed in the Apia, Samoa LDS temple on April 8, 2000. They lived in American Samoa for a short time before moving to California. They were blessed with 4 handsome boys, Iafeta Ben Galo (18), Hipa Shaloam Galo (16), Bruce Jamal Galo (13), McKay Peato Galo (11). Later they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Kataleia Meaalofa Galo (7). This completed their family, but the door was always open for anyone who may be "family" to come and join them. Ben is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was serving as the Elders Quorum President. He loved to serve in the church and anywhere else there was a need. He truly loved the gospel and he built his home on the solid foundation of the gospel. There was no prouder day for him than when his oldest son Iafeta recently received his mission call to the Nebraska, Omaha Mission. We know that Ben will be serving his lifelong dream of a mission now, at the same time as his son is also serving. Ben was so proud of his children. They were all his pride and joy. He loved football and loved coaching his boys as well as so many other boys. He loved his little princess "Kataleia" and loved seeing her dance at the luaus. Ben brought so much joy into the lives of everyone he came in contact with. He was truly a gentle giant and your life was never the same after meeting him. Ben worked as a salesman for Coca-Cola, he also sold appliances and worked in a warehouse at a local grocery store in Samoa. When he moved to the states in 2003, he worked for Ray Gaono in San Jose, California driving trucks. In 2009 when he moved to Pocatello, Idaho, he worked at a transportation company that transported people who needed care, he also worked at Lamb Weston for a short time. He later worked for Todd Briscoe Construction. He began as an employee and ended as a trusted foreman. Ben and his family will forever be grateful for the kindness, generosity, and the true friendship and love that he received from each of his employers. Ben made so many friends and co-workers throughout his career. He will be greatly missed by so many. Ben is survived by his eternal companion, Vaimaila Ofisa Galo; his sons, Iafeta, Hipa, Bruce, McKay, and daughter Kataleia, of Pocatello, Idaho. He is also survived by his mother, Meaalofa Taliva'a and his sisters, Menne Helen Hall, Carmen Colleen Taliva'a and Bruce Fa'agu Taliva'a of California and Aileen Maima Noma'aea from Las Vegas, Nevada. Nieces and nephews include Tanoa Hall and Kairo Taliva'a, Jordyn Kolone, KJ Tavu'i, Solo Tau'i, Lene Tavu'i, Emma Tavu'i, Tihoti Tavu'i, Pioneer Ofisa, Samson Ofisa, Tristan Ofisa, Kirkland Ofisa, Keenan Ofisa, Anitelu Ofisa, Aleki Ofisa, Aleina Ofisa, Aloali'iosamoa Ofisa, Toatasi Staley, Ionatana Staley, Tamatausa'afia Staley, Tuiosamoa Staley, Hirum Ofisa, Hunter Ofisa, Harrison Ofisa, Hixon Ofisa, Vaimaila Mailo, Marley Nofoaiga Mailo, Isabella Faaloloi Lemoe Mailo, Lealiiomanu Cindy Mailo, Aryanah Vaimaila Mailo, Peter Savea Mailo and Charles Faaiuga Jr. Mailo. Brothers-in-law include Va'asoai'a Noma'aea, Charlie Hall, Solotete'e Ofisa, Shaloam Ofisa, Charlie Mailo, Pioneer Ofisa, Malcolm Ofisa, Jamal Ofisa, and Jonathan Staley. Sisters-in-law include Shamika Mane, Tagi'ilima Ofisa, Madonna Staley, Elvina Ofisa, Danielle Mailo, Hope Ofisa, Brittney Ofisa, and Holly Ofisa. Even though they had family titles, they are truly just one big happy family. We love you Ben. Your contagious joy and humility will be greatly missed by your family and by this community. You have touched many lives. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 11 am at the LDS Alameda Stake Building, 930 E. Alameda Road Pocatello, ID, with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 am prior. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
