Paul Richard Harris, 93, passed away, due to natural causes, March 2, 2013 at Emeritus Assisted Living, in the company of his family. Paul was born August 23, 1919, in Paul, Idaho to James F. Harris and Lottie Bell Harris. He grew up in a large family and attended school in Paul, Idaho. He worked on his father's farm until he met the love of his life, Clara Lou Stanger. They were married September 29, 1944. Shortly after they were married, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Okinawa in the Military Police. They had four children: Richard P. (Sheila) Harris, Nampa, Id, Karen (Blayne) Brokens, Pocatello, Id, Randy P. (Rosella) Harris, Pocatello, Id, and Karla (John) Bruce, Kuna, Id. Paul is survived by, his children, 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Paul worked as a shearer operator and worked bending re-bar at Gate City Steel for 30 years and retired from there. Paul loved to be with his family and enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and the outdoors in general, and loved to go to Island Park. Paul was very proud of his yard and worked diligently to keep it neat and green and loved flowers, especially roses. After retirement, he enjoyed spending the winter in Arizona and was able to take a fishing trip to Alaska with his sons Rick and Randy, which he thoroughly enjoyed. His favorite hobby was making latch-hook rugs, which he made for each child and grandchild. He also had a Miniature Pincher named Pixie, that was a great companion and that he thoroughly loved and enjoyed and was very dedicated to him. He moved to Nampa and lived there for about 3 ½ years, then moved back to Pocatello about a year before his passing. He was preceded in death by, his parents, 7 brothers and 1 sister.
