Paul J. Nestler

d. May 23, 2018

On May 23, 2018, after celebrating his 70th birthday, Paul John Nestler was called to heaven unexpectedly while holding his wife's hand and surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Pocatello, Idaho on May 21, 1948 to Kurt and Dorothy Nestler. He went to grade school at Whittier, attended Hawthorne Jr High and graduated from Pocatello High School. He attended three years at ISU in the Architectural program. After serving two years in the Central State LDS Mission, he married the love of his life, Carla Deanne Wellard on June 11, 1971. Later they were sealed for all time and eternity on June 11, 1981. He worked as a surveyor, for a moving company, in a cabinet shop, in construction, and for the last 40+ years, as a flooring specialist. His hard work ethic was unmatched by no other while supporting six children; which has influenced his family, friends and all those he has embraced. He modeled his life after his savior in his actions, humility, and service for others. He served in the LDS church in various callings including multiple bishoprics, as Bishop, and scout-master. He received his Order of The Arrow, Eagle Scout, District Award of Merit, and recently obtained a personal goal, the scouts highest award, the Silver Beaver. Paul is preceded in death by Kurt Nestler (father) and Dorothy Nestler (mother); Ronald Nestler (brother); Natalie Nestler Rapp (daughter). Paul is survived by his wife, Carla Nestler; son-in-law, Gene; children (and their spouses), Eric (Nicole), Kirk (Lisa), Michael (Desirae), Jacob (Genelyn), Stephanie (Tyler); and his 16 grandchildren, Colton, Jayden, Broden, Talon, Hunter, Ryder, Natalin, Ashden, Brielle, Tyson, Gavin, Braelyn, Naliyah, Packer, Titan, and Bryelee. Also, his sisters, Anna (Jack), Patricia (David) and other loved ones. Paul's greatest passion was spending time with his family, being with them in the outdoors, and serving his Lord and Savior. Paul touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with and was a shining example of love, strength, courage, and hard work. The void left in the hearts of those who loved him will never be replaced. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello. Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2 pm at the LDS Fredregill Chapel, 2271 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83201, with a viewing for one hour prior to the services.
